My big toe really hurts!? What should I do?

I have a foot fungus called moccasin something or another. Anyway, my foot doc did not want me to get pedicures, I got them anyway. I have not had a problem until my last pedicure, the lady removed a hangnail around my big toe and it hurts like blue blazes! I m praying it's not infected. If it is will they have to take off my toe? :(
